Peekaboo!

Peekaboo!, originally uploaded by a-chan.

(sorry about the crappy picture, it's from my phone)

To prove that I have been knitting, I introduce you to Peekaboo

Yarn: Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport - held double through-out
Needles: us size 7's (dpns)
Pattern: Peekaboo from Magknits

No changes that I remember. I had to rip the tops out of them several times to get the right hight, they're still not exactly the same. I don't like the decreases, so If I knit these again, I'll probably use a different top.

I love the finger holes! They're so convenient! They're for me, but I think I have enough yarn to knit two more pairs in smaller sizes (like, for the nieces).

Another FO:

Yarn: Blue Moon Fiber Arts Ballerina (less than half the skein) and Plymouth Encore worsted, held together through-out
Needles: us size 17
No pattern

A basic garter stitch scarf for my grandma. I'm not one to usually go to the dark side (novelty yarn and huge needles), but I did for this fast knit. I got a little scared that I didn't have any Christmas gifts done, so I whipped this one out on Sunday.

At the Blue Moon Fiber Arts de-stash sale on Saturday, I picked up the Ballerina (can't even find a listing for it on Ravelry), a hank of Rio in lapis, a skein of what looks like Gingerbread Dude in STR mediumweight, two skeins of STR lightweight in what looks like two of the Raven series, and two skeins of neon STR lightweight that missed their bath and are not superwash. It wasn't as successful of a trip as I hoped. I really wanted to find enough STR to knit the Big Bad Baby Blanket from SnB (3 skeins of two different colors to be held together... but I can't afford that at full price)

I should have more FOs soon because of gifts. I already started a feather and fan scarf out of the neon STR.

bootie!

Well, there's really 3 of them. This first one didn't turn out like I wanted it to. There's nothing really wrong with it, except for the fact that I pulled the buttons off one of Richard's old hawaiian print shirts he threw in my sewing rag pile and I went back to get more buttons off of it for the second one and there were no other buttons! It was crazy. So, I knit two other ones and used buttons off another rag shirt and they're cute. This is a camera phone picture, so it's a little fuzzy (tried to make it look better with picnic, it might have helped).

I forgot my knitting again today so the bus ride home is going to be looonnngg! If I had more money left after the mortgage and other bills, I'd walk down to Knit/Purl and get some yarn and needles and that would be remedied.... However, since I spent a good couple of months yarn money in one shot at the Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival, I have enough yarn for awhile and can't afford any more.

This weekend, I built a Tinker-Toy swift from directions I found somewhere (link to come once I go look for it). It's cool! I have a picture of that I should post when I get home. Richard was really impressed with it, partly because it can be taken apart and put away when not using it. He's really a good sport with the yarn all over the house, but the tinkertoy swift was a bit much for him. (He did say it was really cool) The dog really likes it to, especially when I drop pieces of it and he grabs them and goes and hides. So far there hasn't been any casualties, but he's such a quick little bugger that it's only a matter of time.

It's been awhile since I posted a new Chibi picture, so here's one that's from Labor Day:

To me, he looks so skinny and skeletal in this pictures. He's definitely gained a few more 10ths of a pound since then. I keep thinking he's too skinny, but the vet says he's fine. He's going to stay a little dog. At his last visit, he had almost reached 4 pounds. I really thought that he'd be a bit bigger because of the jack russell in him.

He's going in to be snipped this Friday. I'm really excited, but I'm sure he won't like it (at least at first).

I'm having another ultrasound (the "official" one this time) sometime this week. I have to wait for them to call and then I'm suppose to just drop everything and go. Work is okay with this, so I guess I am too.

First baby pictures.

I went in for my first appointment yesterday! It was kind of scary because I haven't actually been to the doctor in ... well... years, but it was also really exciting. I thought I might have an ultrasound, but I wasn't sure since it is still kind of early. We didn't know the exact day my last cycle started, so they went ahead with the ultrasound to see how big the baby was.

It was so cool! I've seen ultrasound pictures before, but I swear this was the neatest thing I've ever seen... I mean, there's this BABY inside of ME! And then there was the little heart beating, we saw it beating before we heard it, that was funny. He/she was moving all over the place. It's weird to think that this little thing inside of me is moving that much, but I can't feel it.

It was too early to see if it’s a boy or a girl, but the doctor was trying to figure it out.

Anyways, I have another appointment in 4 weeks. I still haven’t knit anything for my own baby, but I am knitting for my friend who is due in December. I’ve finished a pinwheel blanket for her and am part way through a February Baby Sweater. I’ve debating about going to a knit night tonight so I can get some work done on it.

Camping

DSC_0065.JPG, originally uploaded by a-chan.

Before heading out camping, I decided to find a longer US size 9 circular for the baby blanket I'm knitting for a friend. I dug around and finally found one (in the time-out basket). It was hanging out in a baby blanket I started last year that I had bound off and then decided I didn't like the edge and I ripped a few rows out and knit it again (like 3 times).... I then banished it to time-out, with the needle still in it.

On top of that blanket, I found Evan's blanket. Evan was born a month early (in January) and I was almost done with it. I realized I needed one more ball of the black for the border and the LYS was out... so it was banished. When I picked it back up the other day, I noticed that I still had quite a bit of the green left and that I should knit to the end of the green, even if I didn't have the black.

That is how Evan's blanket ended up going camping with us. I pulled it out the second night by the campfire and Richard exclaimed "You're knitting your nephew a Slytherin blanket?" Uhh... I didn't think of it that way... So now it's called the Slytherin blanket and yes, I'm still giving it to him because I love green and black... It's not the blankets fault that it has gray in it.

So now I'm done with the green and it's been banished again until I find two balls of black Reynold's Utopia. I've never done an i-cord boarder, but I think it might be fun... and this would be good practice because it's going to be over 600 stitches when it's time to bind off (yeah, another pinwheel).

Here's another shot, so you can really see the colors:

And I've been working on Gracie's blanket. I've gotten a bit farther than where this picture is.

Anyways, my ravelry name is "chiaknits" if you want to add me. I wonder if Ravelry will replace this blog...

Oh, and yeah, the knitting does smell like camping now, it will come out in the was *crosses fingers*
