I have always been intimidated by cables. I don't know why. For years I have steered clear of them. They were a plague. A couple of years ago my cousin, who had just learned how to knit the week before pulled out a small square with her first cable. I gazed at it with wonder in my eyes. And I still remained scared of cables.
I've been sick for a few days, so last night when I was completely bored, I pulled out my Stitch 'n Bitch book and started cable-ing. It's great! I want to do lots of them... yeah.
Now I just need to work on my intarsia...

Nothing to do with knitting, but...
How do I set my archives?? I am totally lost, so if anybody who sees this, can you please help me. I've tried doing it by the directions, but it never works.. grr.
It wasn't really a problem, but I can see that it might be one as time goes on and I start posting more..
[EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out. I hate it when it's something simple, but it takes me forever to figure it out..grrr]

What the *bleep* is up with ponchos?
Come on, it's not the 70s anymore. Ponchos are not "in".. Who wears them anyways?? j/k
With that aside, I present to you my first poncho: *blushes*
It's a very easy pattern, so I don't really feel like I accomplished anything with it.. But I bet you anything my 7 year old niece will love it. My second poncho should be finished by the end of the week. So yes, while I do not understand the whole poncho movement, I have jumped feet first into the craze.. And I'm considering making one for myself.

Second post.. about nothing, really
I'm just bored waiting for my laundry to finish. My fingers are too cold to knit (almost too cold to type!) If I could find the digital camera, I could take some pictures and stuff, but I think my mom has it in her purse.. That's a weird story... Want to hear it??
My mom runs a nursing home in the small town that we live in. She started out as being the director of nursing and soon took over herself to make it a better place. It wasn't a very nice place to begin with. Its getting a lot better. It went from being one step away from closing to staying open for 7 more years.. and it's still going strong. Anyways, she takes her camera to work so she can take pictures of the residents for various reasons.. Some times it's for fun, like at the Christmas party or any other special day.. She also uses it to post their picture on their doors so they are easier to find.. especially if they get moved around a bit. And that's my story.

Hello! and welcome to my wonderful world of knitting!
Well, I must say that it's taken me a long time to join the current trend of "blogging." I suppose it's because I've never had a real and honest topic to post about. I'll try to keep this intro short and sweet.
To start with, I've been knitting since the 2nd grade. My private school had a knitting club. I was horrible at knitting. I think it had something to do with my un-diagnosed ADHD. I picked the needles up again in high school when my mom was knitting a lot. I had to re-teach myself how to do it because my mom, being a left-handed knitter, taught herself how to knit and she knit differently than any other left-handed knitter I've ever run into. I never finished any projects though. Probably had something to do with the ADHD.
In college I found how relaxing knitting is. I must have been 20 years old before I finished my first item. I'm 23 now, I still have problems finishing projects if they are big (I'm about 3/4 of the way through a baby blanket I started in July and the baby is due this month) I knit on breaks and lunches at work because I get so stressed out on the job (retail, go figure).
Currently, I'm working on my Christmas list.. which I can't really discuss here because who know's who might end up reading this and I don't want to give out any surprises.. I'll give one hint: they will definitely keep you warm!
And I guess that's it for now. Stay tuned for pictures of some of my finished projects and a list of things I want to knit.
